I use my Hawg on a daily basis, and if you respect its power and use it like a human being, you won’t lose any teeth. The Hole Hawg is the standard in right angle drilling for a reason…extreme durability and big time power and torque. Not a stud in the world that can stop this drill, but remember, be careful or the power will bite you.

I had a Harbor Freight China made knock off of this drill to use in my retirement, building a lake home. The China made one has a slip clutch,(un-advertised) two times it de – activated for no reason. After being repaired two times and then fail again it is now in the trash. This Milwaukee has a 5 year warranty. It has lots of power, so read the instruction manual, use the supplied pipe handle for leverage and THINK when using this very powerful tool.

I have recently switched from the DeWalt Timberwolf to the Hole Hawg because my friends told me to. I have since hung it up and lost two teeth and fell off my ladder. I thought this thing had a safety clutch like the DeWalt. Also, I can’t get any leverage with the short body of the Hole Hawg. I am going to lose the Hole Hawg and keep my remaining teeth.

By Karla A. Boughton “Karla Boughton” (Bremerton, WA USA) Milwaukee 1676-6 1/2 Inch Hole-Hawg Drill

I have been building my own house for the past four months. I have sub contracted some of the trades but electrical I did myself. An electrician friend of mine helped me lay things out and got me started. He also gave me some great advice when he told me to buy a hole hawg. Equipped with a ship auger bit, you can drill out an entire wall in the time it would take you to drill one stud with a 3/8″ drill and a spade bit. This drill is very heavy and obviously well made. It has all kinds of power even in the high range. When you shift it into low range you have to be careful you don’t injure yourself if the drill bit binds and the drill kicks back. They don’t call it the wrist breaker for no reason!

I judge tools based not on appearance but on productivity and usefulness. I work a full time job on top of building a house, and my time on the job site has to be efficiently spent because I don’t have a lot of it. This tool made doing the electrical work possible because it allowed me to get a LOT of work done in a short period of time. I’d still be drilling holes for my home runs had I scrimped and used my 3/8″ or even 1/2″ hole shooter. The bottom line is Time = Money, and this drill is a time saving work horse. I highly recommend it to any one who has a lot of holes to drill. It is a high quality piece of machinery.

By Kushiel “scifiaddict” (Ma, USA) Milwaukee 1676-6 1/2 Inch Hole-Hawg Drill

Tremendous piece of machinery, I love it!!! I had my first one for 10 years, it didn’t break someone wanted it more than I did I guess. After losing my first one I went searching and started to research all the 1/2 drills I could put my hands on, after trying several friends and fellow contractors drills I am right back at the Hole Hawg. Well worth the price, while Milwaukee may have let their standards slip in other areas I believe they have left well enough alone with this guaranteed winner. This tool can power a 3 1/2″ feeder bit through 3~ 2x6s like it was nothing. I use it for all my major drilling projects, I do not bother breaking my right angle drill out for most jobs now. I recommend it to anyone who has to do any prolonged drilling.

By Bjorn E. Loftis (Maryland Heights, MO United States) Milwaukee 1676-6 1/2 Inch Hole-Hawg Drill

I had to do a pretty big remodolling project on my grandma’s house (new plumbing, electrical, etc.) and this drill made to job much easier. Boring through doubled joists and top plate didn’t phase this drill at all.

I do take the warning I’ve heard to heart though. I suspect that if one wasn’t careful and let the drill bind up, it has plenty of strenght to break you wrist or mash any limbs that got caught between it and the structure.

I’d like to get more of the Milwaukee self feeding bits. I have the 2 9/16 bit and with this drill, it cuts through studs and flooing like butter.

By Brian McPeak “hbk1313″ (Oxford PA) Milwaukee 1680-21 1/2 Inch Super Hawg Stud Drill with Carrying Case

This is an improved version of the Hole-Hawg. This new tool has more power, easier to use, and fits into tight spaces better. I depend on Milwaukee tools for my livelihood and they delivered a great new tool with this one.

Customer

The new “Super Hawg” is what all hole drills should be. As a Southeast Texas homebuilder I put it through it’s paces and it has turned some of the dreaded work into pleasure. I shopped all of the hole drills before chosing this one. It costs a little more than the others but it is worth it. I am very impressed with it’s high quality construction, power, and comfort. The swiveling trigger handle is a feature all hole drills should have. The more powerful motor, (almost twice the competition), is put to good use running the drill at higher RPM’s than all of the competitor’s. This is one fast hole drill.
